Count upon Saturday, Feb. 4 being a busy day for Gallatin R-5 athletic teams.

Last Friday’s snow and ice storm forced a number of cancellations, but thanks to GHS athletic director Chris Elbert and his opposites at other schools, all have been rescheduled for one sports-packed day.

Trophy games in the Gallatin Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament, postponed last Saturday, will be held on Feb. 4, beginning at 9 a.m. with the girls consolation game pitting Trenton against South Harrison. The boys consolation game, Gallatin vs. South Harrison, will follow at 10:15. The girls championship game, Gallatin vs. Hamilton, will start at 11:30. Hamilton faces Trenton in the boys championship game at 12:45.

Following the jayvee tournament games, Gallatin varsity basketball teams will host Albany for league contests that were originally scheduled for last Friday. The varsity girls game will begin at 3:30 in the afternoon, followed by the boys at approximately 5 p.m.

GHS Courtwarming coronation will follow the boys game. The winter sports dance will be held in the gym from 8 to 11 p.m.

Not to be left out, Gallatin’s varsity wrestling squad will travel to Albany on Feb. 4 for tournament action, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Mr. Elbert has also announced some changes in the remaining junior varsity basketball schedule. The games with Princeton, scheduled for Feb. 13, have been cancelled, but a jayvee boys game has been added before the varsity girls game against Princeton on Feb. 14. That game will start at 5 p.m.

Gallatin junior varsity girls and boys will host Braymer at the GHS high school gym on Feb. 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
