Lady Bulldogs are looking to get off to a good start in Grand River Conference play this Friday at Worth County.
Gallatin’s girls downed Pattonsburg, 49-15, Tuesday night to raise their record to 7-1, but more importantly, the Lady Bulldogs are looking to get off to a good start in Grand River Conference play this Friday at Worth County.
GHS victories in Grant City have been hard to come by in recent years for GHS girls teams … and just about everyone else, as well. The Lady Tigers boast the best winning percentage (.750) in the league over the last five seasons, despite last season’s uncharacteristic 2-6 finish. Worth County’s girls have won 30 of 40 conference games since the beginning of the 2000-01 season.
Stanberry owns a .725 winning percentage (29-11) over those five campaigns. Gallatin has captured 23 of 40 league games in that span for a .575 success rate behind Hamilton (25-15) and South Harrison (24-16).
Worth County, which has won the last two home meetings with Gallatin, stands at 5-2 with a pair of losses to North Nodaway, one in the semifinal round of the Albany Tournament.
Kinsey Batson turned in one of her best performances as a varsity player on Tuesday. She led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Trisha Sprague added 11 points, eight steals and five boards. Katie Jarboe, Maria Burge and Kelsha Bundy contributed seven, six and five points, respectively, for Gallatin.
Katelyn Hulet led the Lady Panthers with eight points.
Gallatin’s sixth-seeded girls tackle Lawson in the opening round of the Lawson Tournament, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
