Farmers’ Electric Cooperative is looking for stories and photographs pertaining to the cooperative’s 67-year existence.
“Our Board of Directors has determined that it is important to preserve the history of the cooperative,” explained Dan Bryan, executive vice-president and CEO of FEC. “We are in the beginning stages of publishing the history of the cooperative and we need the help of people in our nine-county area.”
The cooperative is seeking any stories or photographs that involve Farmers’ Electric Cooperative or any of its employees. All of the written materials and photographs must be turned into the publishing company by August of this year.
Writing the cooperative’s history will be long-time Rural Missouri magazine editor Jim McCarty. Over the next few months McCarty will be compiling and researching information for the hardcover book. He will be traveling to north Missouri a number of times and is scheduled to visit with retired and current FEC employees in late February.
“We have quite a few photographs and articles to dig through from our archives here at the cooperative office,” said Bryan. “While we have a lot of information, what will make this book unique and special will be stories from our past and current members.”
Anyone with stories or photographs that involve FEC is asked to contact the cooperative office in Chillicothe before March 1.
