Gallatin’s 7-1 boys take their first step toward fulfilling the goal of a Grand River Conference basketball title on Friday when they travel to Grant City to face the 3-5 Tigers.
The Bulldogs, 71-18 winners over Pattonsburg Tuesday night in a badly lopsided affair, are looking for their first conference title since 2003 (shared with Hamilton and South Harrison) and first outright crown since 2000. Currently riding a seven-game winning streak, the Bulldogs are also looking for their fifth consecutive victory over the Tigers.
Worth County enters Friday’s contest trying to shake a three-game losing skid. The Tigers closed out their December schedule with losses to Jefferson (#1 in Class 1), Ridgeway and North Nodaway (OT).
The Bulldogs jumped on the Panthers to the tune of a 34-0 start on Tuesday. Nic Burrell and Andrew Adksion paced Gallatin with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Dillon Bird fired in nine points and Jon Brown came off the bench to add eight for the Bulldogs.
Curtis Goble led Pattonsburg with seven points.
Gallatin’s boys are the #5 seed in next week’s Lawson Tournament. They will face #4 Richmond at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
