Gallatin R-5 varsity basketball teams had no trouble taking two non-conference decisions from Winston Tuesday night at WHS. The Lady Bulldogs rushed to a 34-12 halftime lead and downed the Lady Cardinals, 59-26. The GHS boys used scoring surges in each of the second and fourth quarters to carry them to a 67-48 win.

Maria Burge and Kinsey Batson led a balanced Lady Bulldog scoring attack with 11 points each. Trisha Sprague, Kate Jarboe and Courtney Ray all finished with 8 points for Gallatin, which ran its season record to 4-1.

Winston, now 2-4, received a game-high 13 points from Johnna Stephen.

Gallatin’s boys, 4-1 on the season, got 18 points from Nic Burrell, 14 from Andrew Adkison, and 9 from Kyle Andrew.

Jared Lee, with 12 points, and Daniel Williams, with 11, paced Winston, now 1-4. Geoffrey VanWye added 9 for the Redbirds.

Gallatin will host Gilman City next Tuesday night at GHS. Winston travels to Breckenridge on Friday.
