A celebration of Howard Reynolds life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Nall Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 6301 Nall, with a gathering of family and friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church preceding the service. Arrangements were by D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Reynolds, 83, Overland Park, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mr. Reynolds was the son of Carl and Mamie (Donner) Reynolds, born June 22, 1922, in Civil Bend. He spent his childhood years farming and going to school at the Civil Bend grade and high school.

Mr. Reynolds served during WWII by joining the Army on June 29, 1942, during which time he was an anti-aircraft gunner. He returned home on Dec. 7, 1945.

After the war, Mr. Reynolds went to watch-making school and opened his own repair shop and jewelry making business within the Harzfelds store. In 1973, he went to work for Jacquards as a watchmaker and selling jewelry. He retired in 1987, and went back to work on the family farm.

On Sept. 10, 1941, he married Bertha Lee Gambill.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha; one daughter, Carol Lee Reynolds of Overland Park, Kan; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
