Frankie Catherine Wilson Ward, daughter of Harvery E. and Marjorie E. Hines Wilson was born Oct. 27, 1906 in Daviess County near Civil Bend, Mo., and departed this life Nov. 26, 2005 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron at the age of 99. Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. There was a family visitation Monday evening from 6:30-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment was at Civil Bend Christian Cemetery near Pattonsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin First Christian Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Frankie became a Christian and placed her membership in the Civil Bend Christian Church in October 1924, under the ministry of A.O. Hunsaker. On Oct. 9, 1966 she transferred her membership to the First Christian Church of Pattonsburg, where she remained an active member.

Frankie was married to Lee R. Ward May 23, 1942. He preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1965. Also her father and mother, two sisters, Avis Hill and Meda Counts, brother James W. Wilson preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ward received her formal education from Union Rural School, Civil Bend High School and Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo. She was proud of her 50 years of teaching service, retiring May 18, 1977, after teaching, guiding, and counseling 934 students. She did some substitute teaching since retirement. “If you have knowledge let others light their candles by it”.

Mrs. Ward was active in her church work, P.E.O. Sisterhood, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of both County and State Retired Teacher Associations and other community civil affairs.

She leaves to mourn her death one nephew, Larry Eugene Howell, Dallas, Tex., one niece, Nancy Howell Ritter, Allen, Kan., one cousin Virgil Wilson and wife Lois, Gallatin, Mo., sister-in-law, Dorothea Wilson, St. Joseph, Mo., great nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
