Funeral services for Peggy Pettit were held Friday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin. Memorials may be made to the Peggy Pettit Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
Peggy J. Pettit, 78, Gallatin, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at the Cameron hospital.
Mrs. Pettit was born Aug. 18, 1927, to Joseph Earl and Mamie (Newton) Stephens in Jameson. She was united in marriage to Frank Harrison Pettit on Sept. 12, 1944, in Atchison, Kan. He died on July 15, 1974. The couple moved to a farm southwest of Jameson to make their home and raise their family. They later bought a farm east of Gallatin, where they farmed. Mrs. Pettit lived on the farm for 47 years.
She was a a member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church, where she was baptized at an early age.
Mrs. Pettit was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jesse and Bill; a sister, Ina Mae; and a great-grandson, Jacob.
Survivors include two sons, Ray and Kenneth, both of Gallatin; three daughters, Mary King and Cynthia Roberts, both of Gallatin, and Alice Webb of Wathena, Kan.; one brother, Earl Stephens of Littleton, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
