A memorial service for Steven Sweany was held Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Johns Cathedral Chapel in Denver. Arrangements were by M.P. Murphy and Associates Funeral Directors of Boulder. Steven Gregg Sweany, 52, Denver, formerly of Boulder, died of cancer Nov. 6, 2005, at the Hospice of Metro Denver.

He was the son of Donald I. Sweany and Bonnie W. Clark Sweany, and the grandson of the late Belle Sweany Bacon of Hamilton and Kidder. He was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Kansas City. Mr. Sweany was a graduate of Fairview High School and the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in environmental design.

He worked for various architecture firms in the Boulder-Denver area. He then established his own firm, Sweany Architect.

He married Diana Laurence in May 1979 in Denver. They divorced. He lived in Boulder from 1968 until 1981.

He was a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Survivors include two daughters, Caitlin E. Sweany and Lauren R. Sweany, both of Centennial; his parents, Donald I. Sweany and Bonnie W. Clark Sweany of Boulder; a brother, D. Brian Sweany of Arvada; and his former wife, Diana Sweany of Centennial.
