Harold Fred Gatenby, Harlingen, Texas, died Oct. 13, 2005.
A memorial service for Harold Gatenby will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Centenary Cemetery, east of Gallatin. The body was cremated. The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Gatenby was born June 29, 1913, at the family home near Orchard, Neb., the oldest son of Floyd E. and Mary Louise Gatenby. He graduated from Neligh High School in 1932.
He married Thelma Pauline Wagner on Feb. 23, 1933, in Fremont, Neb.
Mr. Gatenby was a farmer and carpenter. He lived on farms in both Nebraska and Iowa, moving to a farm south of Gallatin in 1949. In 1956, he moved to town and in 1968, he went to work for the Missouri Highway Department. He retired in the summer of 1978. In 1991, he moved to Harlingen, Texas.
Mr. Gatenby was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include six children, Jerrold M. Gatenby, Tucson, Ariz., Norma Rae Bashford, Bolivar, Rita Louise Beard of Boulder City, Nev., Ruth Elaine Arms, Falls City, Neb., Sharon Kay Frank, La Feria, Texas, and Harold Eugene Gatenby of Auburn, Wash; eighteen grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Glen Gatenby, Rapid City, S.D.
