Erin Leigh Croy of the Gallatin FFA Chapter was named a national finalist in the Swine Production – Entrepreneurship Proficiency award program in July. Four finalist competed to be named the national winner during the 78th National FFA Convention, Oct. 26-29, in Louisville, Ken.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excelled as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while they gained hands-on career experience. Swine Production – Entrepreneurship is one of 50 FFA proficiency award categories offered at local, state and national levels. The award program is sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

Erin began her SAE with six Poland China sows, four Tamworth sows and a couple of other hogs. She expanded her herd with new breeds and has improved genetics and nutrition to develop her animals. Erin is a graduate of Gallatin High School and is a member of the Gallatin FFA Chapter. She attends the University of Missouri, Columbia, and plans to get a degree in agricultural education. Her FFA advisors are Dennis Croy and Chris Henderson. She is the daughter of Dennis and Sheri Croy.
