DreVaughn Dickerson, 7, of Gallatin, placed third at the 2005 Tom Sawyer Karate Championship held Oct. 8 in Hannibal. DreVaughn competed in the kumite division fighting in the beginner/advanced class.
This was DreVaughn’s first professional tournament. He’s currently practicing kempo karate at Superior Self Defense Studio in Cameron. DreVaughn’s next competition will be the 2005 Elite Martial Arts Tournament in Olathe, Kan., on Nov. 19. DreVaughn is the son of Leesa Dickerson and the grandson of Jerald and Jean Hunt of Gallatin.
