The courthouse will be closed Monday for Columbus Day, the commission will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Bill Eckert, Jamesport Special Road District, met with the commission reporting that they have a road ready for base rock. He was informed that there is no suitable base rock available at this time. As soon as it is available it may be delivered.
Reta Rains, treasurer, and Linda Steward, county clerk, filed certificates of training.
Deanna Lewis and Judy Horton, Gallatin and Pattonsburg Senior Citizen Centers, met with the commission regarding their 2006 budgets. Funding by the state has been cut drastically. Both are having numerous fundraisers, but still having shortfalls. They will meet again in December at the annual budget hearing.
George Smith, Marion Township, met with the commission regarding road questions in that township.
At 10 a.m., as advertised, the public hearing for the City of Jamesport Special Road Sub District was held. Representatives from Jamesport were in attendance. An Attorney General’s opinion has been requested by Representative Jim Whorton. It was unanimously decided to table the subject until receipt of that opinion.
Notice was received from the State Tax Commission that three taxpayers had filed appeals to their assessed valuations. No date was mentioned for hearings or decisions.
David Holcomb contacted Lambert Manufacturing regarding non-payment of the lease and reimbursement of their utility bills. Payment will be sent as soon as possible.
At 2 p.m. the meeting was adjourned to meet with the Local Emergency Planning Commission.
