County Commission
James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting that they are continuing the bridge construction in Sheridan Township, with plans to do the concrete work by the end of the week.
David Tolen reported that he had contacted Representative Whorton’s office regarding obtaining an Attorney General’s opinion concerning the establishment of a sub road district and the amount of tax levied. There is a difference of opinion as to whether or not residents would pay both the Special Road District tax and the Sub District tax.
Bills were audited and paid.
Notice was received from Midwest Security Housing of policy changes regarding the transportation of prisoners. Effective Sept. 15, 2005, the county will be charged $0.75 per mile and $10 hourly charge per transport officer.
Representative Jim Whorton met with the commission regarding the Attorney General’s request and other matters.
Betty Harmison met with the commissioners regarding the air conditioner in her office. The condenser needs to be replaced. Rather than make expensive repairs to an older unit, she was given permission to purchase a new unit and discard the old one.
