Missouri Western State University men’s golf team captured the (Truman State) Bulldog Classic
Led by Gallatin R-5 grad Brice Garnett, the Missouri Western State University men’s golf team captured the (Truman State) Bulldog Classic held Monday and Tuesday at the Kirksville Country Club.
Garnett, who placed second overall to Central Missouri State’s Jon Sauer, shot Tuesday’s best round of 69 to finish with a two-day total of 139, one stroke off the lead. Missouri Western finished with four golfers in the top ten, and all five varsity golfers in the top twenty.
In winning the team title, the Griffons posted a two-day total 571 to beat runnerup Washburn by nine strokes.
Griffon golfers will compete in the Central Fall Regional at Detroit Lakes, MI on Sept. 26-27; at the Drury Golf Classic in Springfield, MO on Oct. 3-4; and at the Heart of America Invitational at Warrensburg on Oct. 10-11.
