North Daviess welcomes new teachers

North Daviess R-3 began its first day of school today, Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Dan Weese will teach geometry, computer applications and algebra I and II for 7th and 8th grades. Mr. Weese was born in Albany and graduated from high school at Maryville. He received his B.S. degree in education-secondary mathematics from Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) at Maryville. His minor was in computer science. Mr. Weese student taught at Stanberry. He and his wife Amy have four children, Devin Weese, 12, Dakota Weese, 10, Amanda Brown, 8, and Jennapher Weese, 3. Amy is a college student.

Clell Porter will teach science for 7th -12th grades and will be the softball and basketball coach. Mr. Porter was born in Eldorado Springs and graduated from high school at Adrian R-3. He received his degree in P.E./health/coaching from Missouri Western State College (MWSC) at St. Joseph. He previously taught in Mound City. He has two children, Jared, 17, and Anisa, 3.

Serving as high school principal and teaching art will be Kristi Critten. She was born in Shawnee Mission, Kan., and graduated from Trenton High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in art education from MWSC and her master’s degree in elementary and secondary administration from William Woods at Fulton. She is currently working on her PhD at Capella University, Minneapolis, Minn. She previously taught at Winston and North Mercer. She has one son, Klark, 8.

Glenn L. Hayes will teach fifth and sixth grades. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School. He received his degree in Elementary Education at Graceland University. He student taught at Newtown-Harris and Christ Church, New Zealand. His wife is Carla.

First and second grade will be taught by Mary Anne Martin. Mrs. Martin was born in Lakenheath, England. She graduated from Lamoni High School. She received her degree in elementary education from Graceland University. Mrs. Martin student taught at Lamoni Elementary and Family Place Preschool. She and her husband David have three children, Kyle, 10, Grace, 5, and Abby, 19 months. David is the owner of Lamoni Heating and Cooling.
