Daviess County Business Womens’ Association
Fourteen members of the Daviess County Business Womens’ Association car pooled to Hamilton on Aug. 9 to have dinner at Mr. Bill’s B.S. and BBQ. Four guests joined us for the evening. Hostess Candy Hughes brought her mother, Annette Youtsey; Deanna McWilliams’ guest was her mother, Wilma Lasher; Denise Everman was the guest of Deanna Fuller; and Sandy Vyrostek brought Pat Duvall. After dinner, Bill Englert told us about how he got started in the BBQ competitions throughout the country. Mr. Bill is by nature a humorous speaker and we thoroughly enjoyed his program. The monthly business meeting followed, with President Margaret Townsend speaking of our recently departed member, Mary Virginia Croy, a “true lady in every sense of the word.” Treasurer Veda Heldenbrand read a “thank you” from Mary Virginia’s nephew for the donation to the Old Scotland Cemetery in memory of Mary Virginia. Members were reminded that we will be providing the dinner for the “Relay for Life” survivors and guests on Aug. 13. Jane McKinsey and Lola Critten are in charge of this activity and passed around a “sign-up” sheet for the menu. Margaret reminded the Scholarship Rules Committee of Lola, Candy and Patty Heldenbrand, to have their report for members to vote on at the September meeting. Door prizes went to Denise, Wilma, Bonnie Harrah, Norma Griffin, Deanna Fuller, Pam Howard, Annette and Patty. Hostesses for the Sept. 13 meeting will be Patty and Mary Ellen Barker. Members are reminded to check the monthly newsletter for meeting details.
