Gallatin city officers arrested three subjects on Aug. 3 after the early morning burglary of Rich’s Corner Store and the attempted burglary of Southside Tavern in Gallatin. Cassandra Ward, 17, Gallatin, Roy M. Johnson, 18, Bethany, and a juvenile were taken into custody when police acted on a tip from a citizen.

Ward and Johnson have each been charged with burglary second degree, class C felony, attempt to commit burglary second degree, class D felony; and stealing, class A misdemeanor. Ward posted $35,250 bond and is being supervised by the Court Services Program. Johnson is in custody at Midwest Security Housing in Pattonsburg on $35,250 bond.

The three subjects allegedly broke into Rich’s Corner Store, taking cigarettes and alcohol. They are also accused of attempting to burglarize the Southside Tavern by kicking in the rear door. Also occurring during the same time frame, four vehicles were entered and CD player-radios were taken, as well as a handgun and shotgun. The stolen items were recovered from a residence at 411 South Daviess Street, where they had been hidden.

The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are pending.
