The Gallatin Board of Aldermen decided that the city of Gallatin will participate in the Sales Tax Holiday again this year during their regular meeting held Monday, July 25, at city hall. The Sales Tax Holiday starts Aug. 5 and runs through Aug. 7.
During public comment, Jessie Limback discussed an incident that occurred with her dogs.
Dennis and Kim Brammer, Shannon McBroom, Dorothy Dale and Veda Heldenbrand showed their support for an upcoming dog limitation ordinance that the city is considering.
Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from July 11 to July 25. Reports Taken: 1-assault; 1-no insurance; 1-failure to register vehicle; 4-trespassing; 1-possession of drug paraphernalia; 1-harassment; 1-displaying another’s plates; 4-curfew; 4-resisting arrest by fleeing. Pound: 3 dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards informed the board that weed violations are being handled on a case by case basis due to the extremely dry conditions.
Bills in the amount of $13,422.75 were approved for payment.
The water restriction of “household use only” is still in place due to the over-consumption of water and the shortage of rain.
Mayor John Thomas stated that plans are starting to be discussed for this year’s Christmas in the Park.
During comments by aldermen, Bob Snidow had complaints of the speed of cars on S. Willow down by Plaza Apartments. Mr. Snidow made a motion to place a “speed limit” sign and a “children at play” sign on S. Willow by the Plaza Apartments which the board approved.
Doyle Patton had complains on not enough handicap parking around the town.
Mayor Thomas stated that Access II approved the handicap ramp but a concrete corner ramp needs to be put on the corner of Grand and Maple, next to the handicap parking space. Also there needs to be a counter in city hall available for handicap customers.
The board held a closed session.

Gene Caldwell was absent.
