The Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education set the tax rate hearing for Wednesday, Aug. 17, during their regular July meeting.
The board discussed the co-op sports agreement with North Daviess. Originally the board had voted to approve the agreement; however the High School Activities Association presented a clarification that co-op sports would not be initiated until the 06-07 school year.
The tuition rate was set at $3,100.
The board discussed school finance and budget issues. A list of needs will be put together and those needs will be prioritized according to available finances.
The board was informed about the ground source heat project. Drilling would cost $3,000. The board will take the matter under consideration and address it at a later date.
Bus routes were approved for the upcoming school year.
Mrs. Rucker reported on the results of score improvements for summer school. The scores were the results of a pre-test and a post test. She also went over changes in the student handbook for next school year.
Mrs. Gannon reported on changes to the student handbook for 05-06 which pertained to the core data report, and which the board approved.
Program reports were discussed and will be addressed in upcoming meetings.
The board accepted propane and diesel bids from MFA; adopted state eligibility criteria for free and reduced lunches; set breakfast and lunch prices the same as last year; approved membership to MARE; and discussed with the bookkeeper some accounting issues that needed to be addressed. The board approved a motion for the bookkeeper to make transfers within the accounts.
An agreement with North Daviess R-3 regarding student residency was approved.
Student residency issues were discussed.
A tech coordinator was hired for next school year.
The board discussed a management and discussion analysis letter that is provided to the auditor.
The board went into executive session to discuss personnel issues and legal updates.
Next meeting was set for Wednesday, Aug. 17, which is also the date for the tax rate hearing.
