County Commission

The clerk reported that the assessed valuation for 2005 for Daviess County is $92,911,832 from $79,382,763, a 17 percent increase. The forms have been submitted to the State Auditor’s Office for the purpose of setting a new levy ceiling.

An amendment to the regional jail agreement was executed.

Chris Nelson, Coffey Fire Protection District, met with the commission regarding equipment and updating information regarding the district.

Alan Bradford, Missouri Department of Conservation, met with the commission regarding the river access at the Lewis Mill Bridge.

Reta Rains, treasurer, met with the commission questioning the amounts needed to fund the road and bridge department for the next six months.

Kevin Heldenbrand, sheriff, met with the commission reporting that prisoner census was at 19, most being of long-term status.

Eli Gingerich, Jamesport Township, met with the commission regarding the vacation and establishment of a road near the Amish School. He was informed that a meeting with Missouri Department of Transportation representatives has been scheduled at the site, on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m.

Craig Smith, Extension Council, met with the commission regarding the contract with Caldwell County. He also introduced projects that he is working toward developing.

Nancy Tate was reappointed to serve a three-year term on the board of directors of Serve Link Home Care.

Notification was received that Georgia Maxwell, Recorder of Deeds, has filed an appeal of Judge Hull’s decision concerning her salary dispute with Daviess County.

These are the approved minutes of July 18, 2005. All commissioners were in attendance.

The Board of Equalization met with the following results: No change – Paul Triplett, Larry Foster, Vennis Croy, Herb Leslie; Remeasure – Wilbur Burns; Recheck – Judy Richards; Assessor will inspect condition: John Cowan; Assessor will make adjustments for unfinished basement area: Thomas Harris.
