Graveside services for Viola Bridges will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Alta Vista Cemetery, near Weatherby. Visitation is after 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Memorials contributions may be made to the Viola Bridges Memorial Fund.

Viola “Betty” E. Bridges, 74, Collins, formerly of Gallatin, died July 17, 2005, at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola.

Mrs. Bridges was born May 27, 1931, to Henry and Mary “Wright” Rhoades in rural DeKalb County. She attended school in Winston and later entered into nurses training in Chicago.

She married Eugene Bridges in 1968 in Nettleton. The couple made their home south of Gallatin. In 1993, the couple moved to Collins to retire.

Mrs. Bridges worked at Sisters Hospital in St. Joseph and was the head nurse at the Cameron Hospital.

She was preceded in death by nine brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene; two sons, Lee Mott, Altamont, and Ray Mott, Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Cecil Rhoades, Bethany; two sisters, Wanda Davis, Winston, and Jean Smith, Brookfield; and nine grandchildren.
