Funeral services for Lillian M. Dorney will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today. Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery near Gilman City. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery Fence Fund.
Lillian M. Dorney, 92, died Monday, July 18, 2005, at the Bethany Care Center.
Mrs. Dorney was born April 17, 1913, to Louis and Audra (Waters) Kroschen in Pattonsburg. She graduated from Gilman City High School in 1931. On Oct. 10, 1934, she married William T. Dorney in Kansas City, Kan. The couple moved to the family farm north of Gilman City to make their home.
Mr. Dorney preceded her in death in 1977 after 43 years of marriage. Mrs. Dorney, a homemaker and quilter and seamstress, continued to maintain the family farm during the summer while living with her daughter and family in Topeka during the winter months.
Mrs. Dorney was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Gilman City and The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bethany, and the Merry Matrons Social Club.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret, and a granddaughter, Maria.
Survivors include three children, Bill and Delores Dorney, Bethany, Barbara Ramirez, Topeka, Kan., and Robert and Karen Dorney, Solana Beach, Calif; two sisters, Wilma Lasher and Vesper Lierley, both of Gallatin; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
