The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education approved the concession stand, restroom and storage area for the football and track fields during their regular May meeting. The length of the building was cut by 10 square foot, bringing the bid down to $82,000. Barny Esbeck won the bid and will do the construction.

Bills in the amount of $198, 226 were approved for payment.

The board went over investments. The last Certificate of Deposit was at 2.7%. Money market investment amounts equal 3.29%.

Bus drivers for activity runs received a pay raise from $8 to $8.25 and bus drivers for regular routes received a raise from $14.11 to $14.68 an hour for 2005-2006.

The board voted to continue the A+ program for another year.

Superintendent Jim Ruse reported on summer bids for June. The school will be adding a softball fence. The new home run fence has additional safety features and will replace the old one.

Playground equipment will also be added this summer. The new play ground stations will be safer for students.

Mr. Ruse reported on SB287. The house bill transitions the state away from a tax-rate driven education funding formula to a student-needs based education funding formula.
