Amy will participate in pole bending. She is the daughter of Christy and David Prather. Jamie will participate in cutting, goat tying, barrels and poles. She is the daughter of Bradley and Julie Tummons. Levi will participate in steer wrestling and team roping. He is the son of Doug and Sandra Alden.
Approximately 150 cowboys and cowgirls are currently members of MHSR. To qualify for finals, athletes must place in the top ten in one of the 24 sanctioned rodeos held throughout the school year. The goal of youth rodeo is to encourage students to stay in school and to promote the highest type of conduct and sportsmanship. Levi is happy to represent his hometown in one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.
The State Finals will be held June 16-18 at Boone County Fairgrounds in Columbia. Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. One dollar of each ticket sold will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Last year MHSR raised $1,375 for St. Jude’s. In addition, there will be numerous vendors in the Cowboy Mall, adjacent to the arena area.
