Dance Company and Dance Essentials presented their spring recital “Dancing in the Street” on June 3 and 4
The Dance Company and Dance Essentials presented their spring recital “Dancing in the Street” on June 3 and 4 at the Courter Theatre. Each recital offered different dance routines on tap, jazz, clogging, hip-hop, pom-pon and tumbling. Students ranging from age two through 17 years of age entertained the audiences with an array of musical dance routines.
Instructors Twilla Mann, Heather Cole and Nancy Zimucha also gave guest performances. Special guest Jennifer Maples tapped an acappella number plus a tap number entitled “Wax On.”
Awards on Saturday evening finalized the 2005 season. Traditional dance medals were given to each dancer. A new tradition of awards were presented in honor of Sharon Lockridge, entitled “Lights, Camera, Dance” and Coach Doug Nichols, entitled “Let’s Dance.” Those awards went to Ashley Burns and Mike Wilson.
The Dance Company and Dance Essentials is owned and operated by Vera Nelson.
Coach Doug Nichols and “Elvis” played by Jett Simmons gave the opening drums for “Rock-A-Hula” tumbling number on Saturday night.
The clogging number “Freaka Zoid” opened each nights performance of the spring recital. Dance assistants pictured left to right are Kaley Esbeck, Sydney Elbert, Kara Kloepping, Emily Michener, Kailey Elbert and Aubrey Nelson.
