Maurice C. and Marie Wheeler of Mound City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 19. They were married in the Methodist Church in Pattonsburg. Maurice retired from teaching in 1993. Marie is a paraprofessional at Mound City R-2 School.
They invite their friends and relatives to join them for worship at the Mound City Untied Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 19, with a covered dish diner following, in the fellowship hall at11:30. Afterwards, a reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. hosted by their children and grandchildren: Linda and Bob Landzettel, Wolfgang, Dietrich, and Sturm of Derby, Kan.; Glenn and Karol Wheeler of St. Joseph; Greg Wheeler, Gary and Joy Wheeler, Rebecca, James and Joseph, all of Mound City. Maurice and Marie are the fifth generation to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Marie’s parents, Leota (Slater) and Auldridge Morris, celebrate in 1984. Grandparents Alma (Salmon) and Ezra Slater celebrated in 1969. Great-grandparents Leota (Hawk) and Urlin Salmon celebrated in 1941. And great-great-grandparents Laura (Burton) and Abraham Hawk celebrated in 1921. Maurice’s parents, Gladys (Campbell) and Leonard Wheeler celebrated their 50th in 1976.
