Gallatin’s Trisha Sprague and Winston’s Hannah Barker, brought home medals from last weekend’s Class 1-2 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships

A pair of Daviess County athletes, Gallatin’s Trisha Sprague and Winston’s Hannah Barker, brought home medals from last weekend’s Class 1-2 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

Sprague, a junior and GHS record-holder in the shot put, finished fifth in Class 2 with a throw of 37’4″, one inch farther than rival Ashley Huff of Hamilton, the defending district champion.

Barker, a sophomore, finished third in the Class 1 girls 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 16.78. Worth County’s Tierney Eaton won the race in 16.06.

Gallatin senior Kelsie Parker finished 10th in the Class 2 pole vault after clearing the bar at 7’6″. The winning height for Class 2 girls was 10’3″ by Cara Grinde of Monroe City. GHS sophomore pole vaulter Nic Burrell placed 13th in Class 2, clearing the bar at 10’6″. The winning height in his competition was 16′.

Winston’s Ryan Curtis was a 15th place finisher in the Class 1 discus event. He threw 110’6″. The winning distance was 142’5″. Gilman City’s Whitney Houser finished 12th in the Class 1 girls shot put with her best throw of 31’11.5″.
