Gladys I. Snyder Deskin, passed away October 31, 2004 after a lengthy illness at Jefferson Health Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Gladys I. Snyder Deskin, passed away October 31, 2004 after a lengthy illness at Jefferson Health Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Inurnment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of June L. Deweese, 1321 Weaver Drive, Columbia, Mo. 65203.
Gladys was the eldest daughter of Audrey and Alva Snyder, born south of Jamesport, Mo. She graduated from Gallatin High School and Chillicothe Business College. She was employed by TransWorld Airlines for twenty-five years retiring in 1982.
Gladys enjoyed traveling to Europe, Greece, Switzerland, Africa and all over the United States. She was interested in and supported the Lyric Opera Guild and the Kansas City Symphony. She also worked to preserve various landmarks in the town where she lived for almost 50 years, Independence, Mo.
Gladys attended the Linwood Baptist Church and Glenwood Park United Methodist Church for many years until her move to Jefferson Health Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dee Deskin, and two sisters, Lucille Snyder and Kathryn LaFollette.
Survivors include a sister, Geraldine Hammons of Cape Cod, Mass., one niece June Lafollette Deweese, Columbia, Mo., one nephew, Jeffrey Hammons, Saranac, NY, and a grandnephew and grandniece, Matthew and Julie Hammons of Saranac, NY.
