End of season totals for the 2005 Spring Turkey Season, April 18-May 8, have been reported by Daviess County Conservation Agent Alan Bradford. There were 518 turkeys taken this year. That number is down by 62 compared to last year. There was one non-fatal accident in Daviess County.
There were 6,834 adult turkeys and 1,201 juvenile turkeys taken in the Northwest Region for a total of 8,035. That is 716 less turkeys taken this year than last year.
The three high northwest counties for turkeys checked were: 1. Carroll 700; 2. Harrison 600; and 3. Caldwell 557.
Number of turkeys checked in surrounding counties were: DeKalb 413; Gentry 481; Grundy 430; and Livingston 481.
Statewide there were 41,027 adult turkeys and 12,771 juvenile turkeys bagged for a total of 53,789. That number is a decrease of 3,084 compared to 2004.
Turkeys checked in the three high counties in the state were: 1. Franklin 1,048; 2. Texas 1,011; 3. Laclede 897.
This year there were six non-fatal accidents and one fatal accident across Missouri. Last year there were eight non-fatal accidents and one fatal accident.
