A resident of Jamesport Township met with the commission regarding the status of the petition to vacate a road. He was informed that the petition must be read in the June term prior to any action taken.
Lyle Warford, Benton Township, met with the commission and Betty Harmison, assessor, regarding a tract of land in section 27, that had been sold in 1996, but due to an abstracting error had not been transferred to the new owner. They also discussed grain bins that were severely damaged by the flood of 1993 and have not been used since, and others that were sold. The matters were taken under advisement until investigation of past records can be made.
Laura Guinan, Experience Works, met with the commission for introductory purposes.
The commission discussed recommendations of the state auditor’s office during the April 18 meeting. It was unanimously decided to appoint each department head or elected official, according to RSMo 49.093, to complete their inventory and submit a report to the county commission by Oct. 10 each year.
Jason Helton, Premium Standard Farms, met with the commission regarding a bridge proposed to be built in section 3 of Union Township. No action was taken at this time. The commission will evaluate other sites before determining which bridge is scheduled first.
Bob Burnett and Clint Mason, Snyder and Associate, met with the commission and Randy, Kenneth and Phyllis Mason explaining the process in designing the BRO project (26). The brochure “When a Bridge Comes Your Way” was given to them and the easements executed.
David Tolen reported that the asphalt overlay on the Landmark road has been completed.
Due to the holiday on May 9, the commission will meet on Tuesday, May 10.
Kevin Heldenbrand, sheriff, met with the commission reporting on the status of prisoners and their board and medical needs. He also submitted a bill of $9,000 from Clinton County for the board of Michael Bailey, acquitted by a jury. It was decided to pay this amount from the general fund since the law enforcement budget cannot withstand this additional expense.
