The Gallatin Postal employees will join a nationwide effort to stamp out hunger and help replenish local food banks.

“The food drive will kick-off a week of Customer Appreciation and Consumer Awareness activities at the Gallatin Post Office,” said Gallatin Postmaster Carl Wiles.

City and rural patrons are encouraged to participate in the food drive by placing non-perishable food items in plastic bags at the mail box Friday and Saturday, May 13-14. Postal employees will be collecting the food items both days.

The food items will be donated to the Green Hills Community Action Agency Food Bank in Gallatin. Marie Toney, GHCA director, will oversee the distribution of food items to patrons throughout the Daviess County area.

“Our agency will be happy to have the food panty replenished after a long winter and we appreciate the efforts and community service provided by the Gallatin postal carriers,” said Marie.

Customer Appreciation and Consumer Awareness activities will take place all week long, May 14-20 at the Gallatin Post Office. Look for flyers in the mailbox with details about the many services your post office provides.

On-lin mailing demonstrations and small business mailing seminars will be conducted through the week at the Gallatin Post Office.

Area patrons are invited to attend an open house on Friday, May 20. Refreshments will be served.
