The 82nd Altamont Alumni Banquet was held at the Altamont Community Hall on Saturday, May 7, 2005.
“School Days” was sung, accompanied by Deloris Read at the piano. Marvin Lollar gave the invocation before the meal. XIXI Beta Sigma Phi sorority of Gallatin catered the meal of ham, green beans, augratin cheesy potatoes, combination salad, homemade bread, hot rolls and dessert of angel strawberry fluff, tea, coffee. Karen Creel, Gina Dixon and Shirley Leakey were the servers.
The memorial tribute was given by Francie Toney in memory of Edna Wilson, class of 1943; Opal Bills Kennedy, class of 1941; and Iva Mae Donelson, class of 1931, all of whom passed away this past year.
Jewell Pendleton presented gifts as door prizes. These were won by Linda and Connie Hughs, Laura Cook and Delores Hess. The program was presented by Connie Hughs, vocalist and playing the guitar. He was accompanied by Jack Toney, on guitar. Deloris Read and Betty Huffman also provided music.
L.L. Cook of Columbia was the only member present from the class of 1940. He was presented a special gift for his 65th graduating year.
Attending the banquet were Samuel and Deloris Read, Ben and Carmen Lee, Maxine Fulk, Kay Turner, Betty McKown, Bonnie Estes, Jewell Pendleton, Mr. and Mrs. Connie Walton, Mr. and Mrs. Don Cook; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lollar; Shanda Lollar and friend, Kurt; Betty Huffman; Mr. and Mrs. Connie Hughs; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hess; Doris “Wilson” Potts; Florence Savage; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Toney; L.L. Cook and friend; Bob Wilson.
Linda Lollar gave a Mother’s’s Day tribute for the closing. We appreciate Linda Hughs and committee for accepting the duties for next year’s event.
