John Wood and Dean Lawson were walking along the Grand River when Dean asked John if he’d ever found any Indian arrowheads. John replied, “Is this what you’re looking for?” He bent down and picked up this five-inch knife lying in the water at the edge of the river. According to area collectors that John has shown it to, namely Mike Walker and Kenneth Mort, the flint rock was used as a knife, not as an arrowhead. The knife is light on one side and dark on the other and John was advised to leave it that way and not try to shine it up. John said it was the first Indian relic he’d ever found and he gave it to Dean to keep.
