Brook Carder participated in the National Postsecondary Agricultural Students Organization Conference last month.
Brook Carder, Gallatin, was among the 12 NCMC Agriculture & Natural Resources students who participated in the National Postsecondary Agricultural Students Organization Conference last month. The conference was held March 14-19 in Albany, New York. The local students competed in Career Development Activities, attended professional development workshops and PAS business meetings during the conference. Featured speakers were past national FFA officer Matt Lohr and cowboy poet Baxter Black. NCMC student Lacy Davis was the National Winner in the Equine Specialist Program. John George represented Missouri PAS as a National PAS Officer candidate.
A special highlight of the trip was a pre-conference tour of New York City. Sites toured included: Liberty Island, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, Times Square, Central Park and the Empire State Building. The local students also participated in tours of local agriculture operations. These included George Allen and Sunset View dairy farms, Gallagher Angus and Thoroughbred Stud, Old Chatam Shepherding Company, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds and the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.
The National Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization provides opportunities for individual growth, leadership and career preparation. North Central Missouri College offers Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Arts Transfer Degrees in Agriculture and Natural Resources and Equine Management.
