Funeral services for Elmer Anderson were held Saturday, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Elmer L. Anderson, 85, Brownfield, formerly of Winston and St. Joseph, died April 11, 2005, at a Brownfield hospital.
Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 11, 1920, in St. Joseph.
He enlisted during March, 1941, serving in the Army Air Force during World War II for four years and nine months.
He married Hazel Roberta Ruoff on Nov. 7, 1941, in North Kansas City. They farmed for over 23 years near Winston, and he was a heavy-duty truck driver for several years. They moved to Brownfield in May of 1991.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Hazel of the home; three daughters, Carol Sumrall of Buffalo, Kathleen High of Effingham, Kan., and Dixie McQuate of Stewartsville; one brother, Ernest Ray Anderson of St. Joseph; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
