Funeral services for Edith Wilkinson were held Monday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was a St. Ludgers, Germantown. Memorials may be made to Sisters of St. Francis, 2100 N. Noland Rd., Independence, 64085.
Edith R. Wilkinson, 83, Gallatin, died April 13, 2005, at Lake Viking Care Center.
Mrs. Wilkinson was born Nov. 17, 1921, to Joseph and Magdaline “Cook” Westhusing in Montrose. On Feb. 14, 1946, she married William Wilkinson in Clinton. Early in their marriage they resided in Higginsville, then later Gladstone. They moved to Liberty in 2000 and to Gallatin in 2004.
Mrs. Wilkinson worked in a garment factory and also the Lake City Arsenal.
In her early years she was active in Girl Scouts and church auxiliary, and was a member of a camping club.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Wagner.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William Wilkinson of the home; two daughters, Karen Young, Trenton, and Sharon Legan, Leesburg, Fla.; one brother, Ed Westhusing, Osage Beach; two sisters, Maxine Van Dyke, Eudora, Kan., and Faye Haynes, Sun Lake, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
