City Clerk Autumn Acree gave the Oath of Office to the newly elected mayor John Thomas and aldermen Bob Snidow and Gene Caldwell during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Monday, April 11.

After returning from closed session, Mrs. Acree stated that the city had received the check from the Terry Murray Foundation. Discussion was held on building a handicap dock at the pond in Dockery Park in remembrance of Terry.

Bob Snidow was appointed president of the board. Bill Lewis, Andereck, Evan, Milne, Peace & Johnson, LLC were appointed as city attorney. Roger Loxterman was appointed planning and zoning administrator.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from March 28 to April 11. Reports taken: 1 – assault, 1 – nuisance violation; 1 – property damage; 1 – theft; 3 – parking tickets; Pound: 5 – dogs in the pound.

Chief Richards informed the board that the state conducted their annual inspection of the pound. No problems were found. He also said that D.A.R.E. classes are finished for the year and graduations were held for Gallatin, Coffey and Jamesport.

Bills were paid in the amount of $151,714.82.

Bills in the amount of $235,509.79 were approved for payment for the sewer project.

Mrs. Acree read the following election certification results submitted by the Daviess County clerk: Mayor – John Thomas – 86; East Ward – Bob Snidow – 41; West Ward – Gene Caldwell 36, George Pontious – 14. The board accepted the results as read.
