Funeral services for Henrietta “Etta” Holcomb were held Tuesday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center.

Etta Holcomb, 98, formerly of Gallatin, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at Saint Mary’s Manor, Blue Springs.

Mrs. Holcomb was born Aug. 21, 1906, to Fredrick and Katie “Timmons” Holcomb in Coffey. She attended school at Coffey.

She married Leo McClung in 1923 and the couple lived a short time in the Coffey area, moving to Hamilton in 1947.

Mrs. Holcomb was employed at the Hamilton Shoe Factory for several years.

In 1959, she married Orvil Holcomb and the couple made their home on a farm south of Gallatin. He died in 1989. Later that year, Mrs. Holcomb moved to Gallatin and in 1991 to Blue Springs to be closer to her children.

Mrs. Holcomb was a former member of the Hamilton Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie, Nova and Cecil Holcomb; and two grandsons.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorreane Fetters, Grain Valley, and Bonnie Warden, Blue Springs; two sisters, Ethel May Price, Bethany, and Effie Waters, Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
