Funeral services for Emily Stevens were held Friday at the Meierhoffer Funeral Home. Burial was in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Emily M. Stevens, 78, of St. Joseph, died March 21, 2005, at the St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Stevens was born April 6, 1926, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Russel C. and Margaret Watson Skidmore.
She attended schools in Windsor and Eldon, and graduated from Jamesport High School in Jamesport in 1944. She then attended the Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe.
Mrs. Stevens worked for Lowe and Campbell Sporting Goods in Kansas City. She was self-employed at Wildcat Lumber in Manhattan, Kan., until her retirement in 1980.
She married William F. Stevens on Oct. 11, 1947, in Kansas City. They later divorced.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Houp of St. Joseph; two sons, Billy Stevens and Bob Stevens, both of Manhattan, Kan.; two sisters, Pat McCully of Manhattan, Kan., and Sandra Alexander of Reston, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
