Armwrestlers from all over Missouri will compete at the World Championship Armwrestling Chillicothe Showdown on Saturday, April 9, at Saales Tavern, 605 Webster, in Chillicothe.
Weigh-ins will be from 7 to 9 p.m., with a double elimination tournament to follow. There is a $10 entry fee per person, and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place finishers in each of five men’s divisions and two women’s divisions. The public is invited to attend, and anyone is encouraged to enter.
The competition will also feature “The Enforcer,” an arm wrestling machine complete with an electronic scoreboard and moving message signs that allows arm wrestlers to compete without the controversy traditionally surrounding the sport. “The Enforcer” eliminates arguments over technique and hand positions. Contestants hold a lever similar to a handlebar and “The Enforcer” measures each competitor’s strength. In addition, Barringer has built in four stations allowing team arm wrestling. Even further, two left-handed stations allow left and right-handed arm wrestlers to compete against each other.
