The Sixteenth Annual Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics 7-8 Contest was held on March 5, 12 and 19. Other contests are scheduled for April 2, 9, and 16. Regional contests were held at 16 sites across the state. The first, second and third place winners in each of the individual contests and the first place winner in the team competition will compete in the state finals in Columbia on April 30.
Students from Gallatin Junior High competed in the Regional Contest in Brookfield on March 19. Winners included Cameron King, first place, and Tye Humphrey, fourth place.
Junior High math teacher is Nancy Garnett. Principal Mike Burrell is pleased that students from their school were willing to put forth the extra effort to represent their school in the regional event.
The math students competing at Brookfield were Casey Alden, Colton Selby, Cameron King; back row, Jamie Brinnen, Tye Humphrey and T.J. Little. Casey, Colton and Jamie are seventh graders. Cameron, Tye and T.J. are eighth graders.
