Ever since I heard the city administrator had resigned I have been wondering do we really need a city administrator? I can’t help but think the money spent for their salary would be better spent on something else. I think the taxpayers of Gallatin should be given the right to vote on whether we want to hire a city administrator or not.

Our streets are in need of repair. I recently heard a person visiting from out of town say how bad the streets of Gallatin are getting. At one time, Gallatin had the money to fix our streets and it went to solve the natural gas problems.

Years ago Gallatin spent thousands of dollars to buy land for an industrial park which was supposed to encourage industry to Gallatin. There is still a lot of vacant land there and not much opportunity for employment.

There are a lot of vacant houses in town that need to be torn down. Some of the tax money could go to a project for this. It would sure give Gallatin a better appearance to people visiting or thinking about moving to Gallatin.

Gallatin is a nice small town, and always has been. I have lived around here all my life, and I haven’t noticed Gallatin growing any. I think the city council does need to try to improve what we have. The city council doesn’t need to try to run Gallatin like a big city. I wonder if a full time mayor and some good council members, that would get to the bottom of some problems, would be something worth considering.

I have heard a lot of people say they don’t think we need a city administrator. I would like to encourage the citizens of Gallatin to voice their opinions on this matter to the city council. Sincerely,
