Coffey Betterment Community met on Monday, March 3. The Easter Egg Hunt will be in the park at 11 a.m. on March 26. Card party is scheduled for Saturday night, March 26. This will be the last one until fall. Next meeting is at 7 on April 4 at the elementary school.

Gallatin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met March 9 at the home of Nancy Terry with nine members, one transferring member and one prospective member present. Regent Beverly Ward opened the meeting with a March poem, followed by opening ritual, pledge of allegiance to the flag and the American creed. Ann Schweizer presented the National Defense report and read the secretary’s minutes. There was no treasurer’s report due to illness. A thank you note from Emily Gay and Brandon Ray for the honor and awards of Good Citizen of the Gallatin school was received. Regent thanked everyone for a successful President’s Day Tea in February. The chapter is pleased to have Lanita Smith of Jamesport, wishing to transfer her membership from the Wichita, Kan., Fores Del Sor Chapter. Lanita volunteered to copy Daviess County cemetery records, placed in the county library several years ago, by Gallatin Chapter D.A.R., putting them on line for easy access on computers. Nancy Terry presented “Time to Remember Abigale Adams” with an up-close insight of another American woman and First Lady’s influence on the building of our nation, quality of concern for others, and morals of its people. Refreshments were enjoyed. Hostesses were Nancy Terry and Kim Ness. Next meeting will be April 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Ann Schweizer with the program “Time to Remember Deborah Franklin” presented by Lucille Bruce.
