Daviess County PWSD #2 has joined Missouri One Call System, a non-profit organization established for the protection of underground facilities.
Missouri law requires anyone planning to dig, drill or blast to report the location of the dig site by calling 1-800-DIG-RITE (1-800-344-7483). The MOCS operator will enter the necessary information and then notify Daviess County PWSD #2 along with other member utilities of impending excavation. The utilities will then mark the location of their facilities at the dig site, allowing the excavator to dig safely.
Digging without knowledge of what’s located underground can cause injury, interrupted service, and result in expensive repairs for the excavator and the utility.
Calling 1-800-DIG-RITE at least two working days prior to any excavation notifies member utilities of the planned excavation and informs them of the location of the work. Utilities then mark the dig site both for the protection of the excavator and their facilities. There is no charge to the excavator for this 24 hour-7 day a week service.
Daviess County PWSD #2 is now one of over 850 Missouri One Call members. Legislation requires all utilities in first and second class counties to participate in the one call system. All utilities in the third and fourth class counties were required to participate by Jan. 1, 2005.
