Ben Weldon of Gallatin was one of about 300 4-H members who participated in the annual Kansas City 4-H Global Conference, March 9-12, at the Kansas City Airport Hilton Hotel.
Ben was among teens from Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma to participate in the event, which is open to 4-H members 15 to 18 years old. The conference gave them insight into the global workplace through workshops, tours and ethnic enrichment activities.
The delegates spent Thursday and Friday touring companies, attending workshops or participating in service activities. Tour sites and service learning projects include Board of Trade, Harley Davidson Motors, Bushnel Performance Optics, Don Bosco Center, Hallmark, Kansas City International Airport – air traffic control tower, Harvesters Food Bank, Nelson Atkins Museum, Time Werner Cable, Federal Reserve Bank, and more.
Delegates could also choose from over 50 workshops to attend. An Ethnic Enrichment Event had booths displaying traditional foods, music and crafts and exhibits from more than 25 countries.
