Virginia Maurine Keplar Hunt, 89, died on March 5, 2005, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.
Funeral services for Maurine Hunt were held Tuesday at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa. Burial was in Decatur Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Decatur United Methodist Church or the Decatur Booster Club.
Virginia Maurine Keplar Hunt, 89, died on March 5, 2005, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.
Mrs. Hunt was born on May 14, 1915, near Coffey in Daviess County to Robert Houston and Grace Virginia Everly Keplar. She attended country school at Prairie Hill and high school at Civil Bend. She attended business school in Kansas City.
She worked at Lakes Nurseries in Shenandoah, Iowa, where she was introduced to her husband, Lee. They were married on May 14, 1941, in Gallatin. They made their home on the farm northeast of Ellston, Iowa.
She attended the Methodist Church in Ellston and later the Decatur United Methodist church.
She worked at the nursing home in Mt. Ayr and cared for the elderly in their homes. She also worked at O’Bryan Brothers in Leon before retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents; brother-in-law Lenn Reno; sister-in-law and husband Ruth and David Nauman; grandson Bobby Peppmeier; and great-granddaughter, Carrie Ann Erickson.
Survivors include her children, Virginia Smith of West Des Moines; Julie Peppmeier of Decatur, Iowa; Bob Hunt and Anne Smathers both of Lost Springs, Wyo.; Reba Potee of Eureka Springs, Ark.; and Linda Hetherington of Creston, Iowa; one sister, Marjorie Reno of Gallatin; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren; and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
