Erin Croy, 17, of Gallatin has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. This award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Erin earned her award by volunteering service through her church, Knee High 4-H Club, and the Gallatin High School FFA organization, for which she currently serves as chapter president. Erin has participated in activities such as Adopt-A-Highway, the Gallatin First Christian Church Bazaar, Santa in the Park, and the Lake Viking Kid’s Kamp petting zoo. In addition, Erin has volunteered at the Daviess County Senior Center, the Lake Viking Care Center, and for the Daviess County Junior Livestock Association as she has aided with maintenance and livestock shows over the past several years. Erin has also actively participated in various food and clothing drives, as well as headed numerous appreciation activities through her school and community.

Her volunteer activities were judged on criteria such as personal initiative, creativity, effort, impact and personal growth. A certificate will be presented to Erin at the commencement ceremony on May 15, 2005.
