After a lengthy car chase on March 7, Wade A. St. Onge, 30, Trenton, was apprehended in Daviess County and charged March 8 with the class B felony of attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, the class B felony of theft of anhydrous ammonia, the class D felony of possession of anhydrous ammonia in a non-approved container, and the class D felony of resisting arrest. Bond was set at 85,000, and he is being held at Midwest Security Housing.
In his probable cause report, Daviess County Deputy Kevin Lawson, stated that at about 9:30 p.m. on March 7, during a routine check of the anhydrous ammonia tanks at MFA Agri Services near the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 13 near Gallatin, he observed the tail lights of a vehicle parked between an equipment building and the anhydrous tanks. The vehicle took off as he approached in his fully marked patrol vehicle.
Two containers were on the ground behind the vehicle, and the tailgate was down. As the vehicle sped around the west side of the tanks towards the intersection of 242nd and Otter Avenue, there were items falling out of the bed onto the ground.
As the vehicle came from behind the tanks, Deputy Lawson tried to intercept it. Items were still falling out of the bed. The vehicle came onto the roadway nearly striking Lawson’s patrol vehicle. Deputy Lawson then initiated overhead emergency lights and audible siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle headed east on Otter Avenue towards Highway 13. At this point, Deputy Lawson advised 911 Dispatch that he was in pursuit of a white extended cab Ford pickup with Missouri license plates.
The vehicle then headed north on Highway 13 towards Jameson. Deputy Watson notified me that he was responding to assist. Deputy Lawson advised Deputy Watson that he was traveling 110 m.p.h. and the pickup was pulling away.
At the intersection of Highway A and Highway P, the pickup turned east on P, then north onto Highway UU, and then west onto Aisle Avenue, a gravel road, with Deputy Lawson still in pursuit. The pickup was still maintaining a high rate of speed. At this point, Deputy Watson advised Deputy Lawson that he was at Highway 13 and Aisle Avenue setting up spike strips in an attempt to disable the vehicle.
At the intersection of Highway 13 and Aisle Avenue, the driver of the white pickup headed into a field.
Deputy Lawson continued to follow the pickup into a disked field at a high rate of speed. The pickup then exited the disked field and went into a CRP field, knocking the tailgate loose. At this point Deputy Lawson was able to confirm the license plate number on the pickup.
The pickup crossed a ditch that was full of water, and as Deputy Lawson attempted to cross the ditch, his vehicle became stuck. Lawson notified 911 Dispatch that he was out of the pursuit, and Deputy Watson took over.
Deputy Watson gave chase for approximately 30 minutes within Daviess County, assisted by several Missouri State Troopers. The subject lost control of the vehicle on a curve and crashed, then ran on foot from the crash site into a wooded area.
A perimeter was established as 13 troopers arrived to the area aided by a patrol canine “Cijo.” While manning his post, one of the troopers observed the subject running north and pursued him on foot. The trooper apprehended the subject after a short chase.
The subject was identified as Wade A. St. Onge of Trenton. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department took control of Mr. St. Onge as the arresting agency. St. Onge was transported to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to Midwest Security Housing on a 20 hour hold pending the issuance of warrants.
Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards secured MFA Agri Service. Deputy Lawson returned to MFA Agri Service and seized several items, including a 20-pound cylinder, and other containers. Other items were found along Otter Avenue and Highway 13. Additional items were also taken from St. Onge’s vehicle. All items were seized by the North Central Missouri Drug Task Force and taken as evidence.
