County Commission
Kevin Heldenbrand, sheriff, filed his certificate of training for his annual training.
The commissioners reported having attended a meeting with the commissioners from DeKalb and Clinton Counties on Feb. 17 at Maysville. The discussion centered on regional jails. Information will be obtained from other counties having experience with recent jail construction.
Dennis Fewins, Jamesport Special Road District, met with the commission regarding the procedures for opposing a road vacation and establishment.
George Smith, Marion Township, met with the commission regarding culverts and brush problems.
Todd Shuler, state auditor’s office, met with the commission as a routine part of the current audit. He addressed issues of future single audits to be paid by the county and other general topics.
Don Tolen, Jackson Township resident, met with the commission with questions concerning the addition of mileage to the CART program. He was informed that the base rock would have to be applied prior to the approval of the commission.
The 2005 hazardous material agreement was executed with Region H and the annual fee submitted.
Marvin Searcy, Marion Township, met with the commission regarding a bridge problem over Muddy Creek and an interest in the addition of base rock to 115th Street.
Reta Rains, treasurer, met with the commission regarding a request for an abatement of penalties on a delinquent tax. There was no error made by county staff, therefore no abatement was granted.
